    The Friend Who Reminded Me

When friendship is tested, ʿĀmir learns that a true friend helps you please Allah.

The school day had ended, and the sun was warm.

ʿĀmir sat on a bench, scrolling through his phone.

Two boys nearby laughed as they filmed a classmate.

“ʿĀmir! Come record with us - it’ll be funny!” they called.

ʿĀmir froze. He didn’t like hurting people or recording videos,

but he didn’t want to seem different either.

    He stared at his phone.

“Is this the kind of friend I want to be?” he whispered.

His thumb hovered over the record button… then stopped.

If I know this is wrong, why am I unsure? he thought.

Just then, Yūsuf walked by with his backpack.

Seeing ʿĀmir’s worried face, he asked,

    “What’s wrong?”

“They’re teasing Hamza and want me to record it.”

    Yūsuf said gently,

“A good friend shows you what’s right - not what’s wrong.”

A warm afternoon school courtyard scene. A faceless 8-year-old boy (ʿĀmir) sits on a wooden bench under a leafy tree, holding a phone and looking uncertain. In the background, two faceless classmates laugh loudly while making a video — they point their phones toward a shy boy standing near the wall. School bags, notebooks, and a soccer ball lie around casually. The sunlight is golden, casting long shadows, with gentle wind stirring dust.
