    Aisha Begins Her Qur’an Journey

A gentle story about a little girl who learns that every Qur’an reader begins with one small step - and that Allah rewards sincere effort, even when reading feels hard.

Aisha sat with her small Qur’an, tracing the golden letters on its cover.

“Ummi,” she whispered, “how do people read the Qur’an so beautifully?”

    Her mother smiled softly.

“When you hear someone read like that, you might wonder how they ever learned…

But they all started with a tiny step - one little word, then another, and another.”

Aisha held her Qur’an a little closer.

“So they weren’t perfect at first?” she asked softly.

A small smile grew on her face.

“Then maybe I can begin… even if it’s just one word.

Aisha watched her mother open her own Qur’an and read a short surah aloud.

The gentle sound of the Arabic letters flowed steadily through the room.

    Aisha felt her heart warm.

“I want to know these words,” she thought.

“I want to learn them too.”

The next afternoon, Aisha opened her own Qur’an.

    She traced the letters carefully.

But the words looked mixed-up, and the sounds wouldn’t come out right.

    She tried again… and again.

    “It’s too hard,” she whispered.

Her eyes began to feel warm.

A cozy living room with a lightest-blue sofa, mustard curtains glowing with warm daylight, a terracotta-and-gold patterned rug, indoor plants, and simple framed leaf artwork on a cream wall. On the rug, a small Somali girl in a simple teal dress sits facing her mother. The mother wears a full plum jilbab, modest and flowing. A closed Qur’an rests on a wooden reḥl between them, angled so no text is visible. The mother gently rests a hand near the Qur’an or on the girl’s hand in a guiding gesture. The girl holds the Qur’an a little closer with a curious, hopeful posture. Both characters are faceless silhouettes in a pastel marker + colored pencil hybrid style. Warm–cool color contrast, soft textures, and a calm, curiosity-filled atmosphere.
